Postcard from France ........

Memories of days spent meandering the historic
Aquitaine region of south-west France
with it's postcard views round every corner.

Beurre Bosc Pears ......

Is there anything more French than beautiful
beurre-bosc pears

..................................................

I have noted them in still life paintings
through-out the centuries
They always sit so well and those little crinkly rustic stems
must be an artists delight

Just for your interest
the Beurre means buttery and
Bosc is the name of a French Naturalist
L. Bosc d"Antic

What better place to take a coffee break
than in the delightful Tuilleries Gardens
right in the middle of Paris

Blue Shutters - Lace Curtains ........

spotted in a village in Brittany   ~

Nothing is prettier than the wonderful faded and paint-peeled shutters
in French villages ... I hope no one ever decides to sand and repaint
it would diminish there quaint rustic character

...............................................

Something in me wants to lift that planter box
and plant afresh with little white trailing daisies
with just a touch of soft dusty pink

Autumnal Skies ......

Autumn resonates within the street-scapes of Paris where
soft grey skies form the perfect backdrop
for brushes of gold and burnished copper foliage.

Laneways in the Dordogne ........

~   A little village in the Dordogne   ~

On my way to the Pizzeria
cobbled laneways - soft fading light
pretty ornate lanterns & red shuttered windows.
What a delight!

La Pointe du Gouin ......

The day started out bitterly cold with our faces
being lashed with rain  - my only thought was to find a cosy coffee shop
and nestle in for the day but we plodded on along the coast and
Voila! the sun came out - the skies lit up and of course
I grabbed my trusty camera and started click-clicking away
